William J. Haynes II (“Jim”) serves as a Strategic Advisor to Nichols Law, where he advises the firm on Government and National Security matters. A seasoned executive in the private sector, he previously served in two presidentially appointed, Senate-confirmed roles as General Counsel of the Department of the Army from 1990 to 1993 and General Counsel of the Department of Defense from 2001 to 2008.
Education
Jim currently serves as Executive Vice President and Strategic Counselor of Blacklake Group, advises several early and mid-stage emerging technology companies, and serves on the boards of Labrynth, the Supreme Court Historical Society, and the William T. Coleman, Jr. Foundation.
Previously, Jim was a partner at a major national law firm and has held executive and legal leadership positions at General Dynamics Corporation, Chevron Corporation, Siga Technologies, Inc., and CSRA Inc.
